    Yemen truce extension welcomed by UN Security Council

    UN Security Council (UNSC) members have welcomed Yemen’s truce extension, which represents the most significant opportunity for peace and civilian protection Yemen has seen in years. According to an official UNSC statement issued today, the truce has laid the foundation for progress on the economic and security tracks, as well as in-depth and inclusive discussions on the political track.

    Yemen truce extension welcomed by UN Security CouncilTo reach an inclusive and comprehensive agreement on the expanded truce proposal developed by the UN Special Envoy, the parties should seize this moment by intensifying negotiations urgently. According to the members of the Security Council, they expressed the hope that, upon full implementation of the truce as well as an expanded truce agreement, a path could be created for a peaceful, inclusive and comprehensive political settlement to be reached, based on the agreed references and under the auspices of the United Nations.

    Egypt Sees $29.7 Billion in Overseas Remittances Through July, Driven by Rising Inflows

    The total amount of remittances sent home by Egyptians working abroad reached approximately $29.7 billion from January to July 2026. This growth reflects a 28.1% increase from roughly $23.2 billion recorded the previous year, according to the Central Bank of Egypt. Over the seven-month span, this rise added about $6.5 billion compared to the same period in 2025. The data captures funds transferred by Egyptians employed overseas, with this year’s gains following the record-breaking figures reported for the entire 2025 calendar year.
