CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – The total amount of remittances sent home by Egyptians working abroad reached approximately $29.7 billion from January to July 2026. This growth reflects a 28.1% increase from roughly $23.2 billion recorded the previous year, according to the Central Bank of Egypt. Over the seven-month span, this rise added about $6.5 billion compared to the same period in 2025. The data captures funds transferred by Egyptians employed overseas, with this year’s gains following the record-breaking figures reported for the entire 2025 calendar year.

In July alone, remittance inflows amounted to about $4.5 billion, representing a 20% increase from approximately $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also experienced year-on-year gains, with January inflows reaching around $3.5 billion, up from $2.9 billion the previous year. February’s remittances rose to roughly $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. The combined totals for January and February reached approximately $7.3 billion, exceeding last year’s combined figure by about $1.4 billion.
The upward trend is also evident in the broader fiscal-year data, which showed increased remittance receipts. Egypt received about $47.3 billion during fiscal 2025/2026, marking a 29.6% rise from $36.5 billion in the prior fiscal year. June 2026 saw about $4.2 billion in remittances, up from $3.6 billion in June 2025—a 15.6% monthly increase. The fiscal year covered July 2025 through June 2026, while the latest seven-month data covers January through July 2026. In dollar terms, this fiscal-year increase totaled roughly $10.8 billion.
Remittance inflows see growth across different reporting periods
Data for the calendar year also indicates a significant rise in inflows. In 2025, remittances reached approximately $41.5 billion, which is a 40.5% increase from about $29.6 billion in 2024, translating to a gain of roughly $11.9 billion. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows totaled around $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion during the same period the previous year—an increase of 29.6%. December 2025 set a monthly record of about $4.0 billion, rising 24% from $3.2 billion the previous year. By January 2026, cumulative remittances for the fiscal year had reached $25.6 billion, up from $20.0 billion in the same period last year. The Central Bank of Egypt reported about $29.4 billion through February, a 28% rise from roughly $23.0 billion during the same eight months. December’s year-on-year increase was approximately $800 million.
Spring figures continue to show remittance growth
Remittance totals kept climbing through the spring months. From July to March of fiscal 2025/2026, the inflows summed to about $34.9 billion, a 32% rise compared to $26.4 billion during the same period last year. By April, the total had grown to around $39.2 billion, representing a 33.2% increase from $29.4 billion. April alone contributed about $4.3 billion, up from $3.0 billion in April 2025, marking a 44% monthly growth or roughly $1.3 billion. By May, remittances for the fiscal year had reached approximately $43.1 billion, a 31.2% increase from $32.8 billion the previous year. May inflows totaled about $3.9 billion, compared to roughly $3.4 billion in May 2025. The 11-month total increased by roughly $10.3 billion, culminating in a fiscal-year total of $47.3 billion after June. The July figure then boosted the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion, with all recent comparisons remaining above their respective levels from the prior year.
