    Wildfire destroys 100 California homes and other buildings

    About 100 homes were destroyed and thousands of residents were evacuated by a wildfire in rural Northern California, according to fire officials. At least two people were injured and thousands of homes were destroyed, officials said. We are heading into what is traditionally the most dangerous time of the year for fires in California due to a severe drought.

    Wildfire destroys 100 California homes and other buildingsIn the last three decades, climate change has made the West warmer and drier, and wildfires will continue to be more destructive and frequent. The most destructive and largest fires in California’s history have taken place in the last five years. Weed has seen three major fires since 2014, reports AP. Roseburg Forest Products, which makes wood products, is the source of the latest fire. 7,500 people were evacuated.

    The developing economies of Asia and the Pacific are projected to grow by 5.0% in 2026, reflecting a slowdown from the 5.5% expansion seen in 2025, according to the Asian Development Bank’s latest outlook. The estimate for 2026 is 0.1 percentage points higher than the bank’s forecast issued in July. The growth rate is anticipated to reach 5.1% in 2027, driven by investments, increased public expenditure, and ongoing demand for technology exports associated with artificial intelligence.
