India has cautioned Washington that proposed tariffs targeting nations importing Russian crude oil could undermine bilateral relations and impact global commodity markets. This warning came in the wake of the US House of Representatives passing the Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, which authorizes the US government to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on significant purchasers of Russian energy.
